THOMAS M. LABAYEWSKI
Assistant Scout Executive
Laurel Highlands Council, Pittsburgh PA
THANK YOU
Thank you for selecting me as a candidate for Scout Executive with the Shenandoah Area Council. My hope is that this website will help you become more familiar with my career accomplishments, qualifications, and experience.
INTRODUCTION
I knew I wanted to be Scout before I could read. I remember leafing through a Scout Handbook, looking at pictures of Scouts hiking, swimming, performing first aid. Dragging my parents to that joining night was inevitable. In time, my Scouting experiences have become less of what can Scouting do for me and more about how I can help change the lives of others by ensuring a quality Scouting program experience.
A quality Scouting experience requires many things to succeed; dedicated and trained leadership, consistent recruitment of new members, and the funding to make it all possible. My career has been a steady progression of increased responsibility with successes in all these areas.
The BSA bankruptcy, along with COVID 19 have brought unprecedented challenges to Scouting. I firmly believe that together, we will meet these challenges by having and implementing a clear strategic vision. Strong relationships with volunteers, community stakeholders, and continued quality staffing will be the foundation for success. Together, we will be ready for that next new Scout going to a joining night, ready for that Scout to go to camp, and ready for that Eagle Board of Review.
